Bell is a 9 year old, neutered female Maltese. Before being referred to our practise she had signs of progressive paralysis of the left fore limb. There was a history of trauma un-intentionally caused by the owner. On examination she showed high-grade pain reaction on handling of the limb.
Sedation only was required for this scan; this is one of the many positive aspects of using CT, as a full anaesthetic is not always required. Not only is sedation better for the patient, but also remarkably reduced cost.
The CT revealed that a lump was evident in the inner part of the shoulder, flexion and extension where highly restricted. The lump was swelling of the muscles and fascia due to the avulsion. CT showed in great detail all the tissues and structures involved, witch is impossible to obtain with any other conventional m
